Ottawa, CANADA – CCC is pleased to announce that it has signed a new government to government (G2G) contract with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) for the delivery of Canadian potash from Canpotex Limited. This is the 9th G2G contract that CCC has signed with the BADC over the past decade. Canpotex will source the potash, through its shareholders Mosaic and Nutrien, from mines located in the province of Saskatchewan.
Almost all potash in Bangladesh is used as a food crop nutrient to improve yields. Food production is the largest employment sector in the country, accounting for 45% of the jobs. BADC is the entity of the Government of Bangladesh that’s responsible for the procurement, storage, transport, and distribution of agricultural supplies required by Bangladeshi farmers, including potash.
Canada is the world’s largest supplier of potash, accounting for approximately 40% of the global supply. To date, Canpotex has supplied Bangladesh with almost 4 million MT of Canadian potash. CCC has been integral in facilitating the reliable supply of high-quality Canadian potash from Canpotex to the Government of Bangladesh.
